Interchange 17 Reconstruction, Contract 3, TANY 06-51, Newburgh
Orange County, New York

Description:  Project encompasses reconstruction of the Exit 17 Interchange on the New York State Thruway in Newburgh, New York.  Project includes contraction of 6 new bridges, earthwork embankment construction, MSES wall construction, concrete/asphalt pavement, wetland construction, drainage improvements, electrical and lighting improvements, guide rail installation, bored pile installation, sign installation and misc. site improvements.

Gilboa Dam Interim Stability Improvements

Approx. Revenue:  $3,800,000.00

Description:  Project includes installation of multi-strand anchors, anchored into bedrock to stabilize existing dam.   Responsible for providing access to the site, erosion control, water diversion cofferdams, installation of 500 ft by 40 ft high work platform for drill rigs, removal of loose debris and façade stone from the face of the dam and design/installation of 10,000 sy of debris fall protection netting on the face of the dam.  The project also includes 740 cy of replacement concrete for a notch cut into the dam under a previous contract. 

Reconstruction of Interchange 17, Part 2
Newburgh

Description:  Responsible for performing the site work for the new Interchange 17 facilities as subcontractor to The Pike Company.  Work includes site clearing and excavation of approx 100,000 cm of soil on approx 105 acres of land, including 2 large detention ponds.  As much as 26,000 cm of this soil could be contaminated.  Handling of this material includes preparation of Health and Safety plan and a Material Handling Plan, stockpiling, testing and then disposal of the material according to soil contamination levels.  Work also includes building excavation and grading for approx 8 different buildings, including the new exit and entering toll facilities.  We are to perform all utility installation, which includes approx 4,400 lf of drainage pipe, ranging in sizes from 15” to 48” and associated drain structures.  Also includes 3,700 lf of sewer pipe and 5,000 lf of waterline varying in size from 3” to 16”.  Both the water and sewer lines require 18” and 24” pipe jacking under Route 300 and I-84, both east and west bound.  Some of the pipe installations exceed the 20’ depth.  Work also includes excavation for electric duct bank and gas line installation as well as the placement of the pavement subbase course and paving the site.

Sussex County Landfill Cell – Phase 3 – Solid Waste Facility

Description:  Construction of an 18 acre landfill cell including excavation and disposal of approx. 300,000 cy of material, liner system consisting of a secondary and primary liner system of GCL, 60 mil HDPE geomembrane, geocomposite, secondary and primary leachate collection, leachate collection manholes, storm drainage, leachate forcemain, electrical, watermains and drainage layers. 

Route 280 at Garden State Parkway, Interchange 145
East Orange, Essex County, New Jersey

Owner:  NJ Dept of Transportation
Approx. Revenue:  $17,043,275.20

Description:  Project includes the reconstruction of the Westbound Entrance to Route 280 from The Garden State Parkway Interchange 145.  One major feature includes the construction of an approx 600 lf, 5 span structural steel bridge.  The bridge foundation consists of standard abutment construction and the piers are supported on 6’ diameter drilled shafts in rock.  Two of the pier caps are integral construction with the steel beams encased in concrete and post tensioned afterwards with almost 1,600 lf of post tensioning.  Also includes demolition of the existing steel and concrete structure after construction of the new bridge.   Another feature includes the construction of three precast concrete retaining walls ranging from approx 300 sf to 7,600 sf.   Roadwork includes the realignment of ramps for the east and westbound entrances to Route 280 and the reconstruction of the Westbound Connector ramp as well as installation of new drainage features, curb and concrete barrier and paving.  This project features night work and has a provision for a fast track construction dealing with the lane restrictions on Westbound 280 

Confined Dredge Material Disposal Facility Construction & Operation

Description:  Construct and operate dredge material disposal facility for 1.3 million cubic yards of sand.  Work includes
outfall structure, spud barge and dredge piping, sand placement and erosion controls.

Lake Sebago Water Distribution System

Owner:  Palisades Interstate Park Commission
Approx. Revenue:   $1,013,000.00

Description:  Construction of 11,900 Linear feet of 6” and 4” HDPE Waterline system, including valves, water services, air relief valve and pressure reducing manholes to provide water to the Beach Pavilion and Camps at Lake Sebago in Harriman State Park.  A key element of the project was the construction of an 800 Linear feet water line across Lake Sebago.  The project will be brought to substantial completion in approximately one half the time period allowed for in the contract.
